58 Villages?

TOTV is a GREAT resource. We are considering TV for our retirement home. It appears that TV is made up of several neighborhoods and 58 "villages". Is this correct? Also, how does one decide which village(s) is most suitable for our needs. Where do you start looking? Any suggestions from "experienced" TVers greatly appreciated.

Re: 58 Villages?

We came down two years ago and never left!!! We bought as they were building our place and moved in one month later!!!

First thing you need to decide is how many bedrooms/baths you REALLY need.
Next, do you have a dog that is used to a yard of their own?
Do you want brand new or pre-owned and make a list of pro and con on both.
Only previously owned are available in the villages north of 466 and there are only
new ones in the newest villages.
Decide how much you want to spend and stick to it!!!!
We only looked at Tall Trees because of its' location.
We only looked at courtyard villas as they are the ONLY homes allowed to have full fences.
We wanted two bedrooms/baths only.
Wanted a FULL yard for our dog.

So, we purchased a villa on a corner lot in Cherry Vale Villas.

I will warn you.....when you buy, and you WILL buy, don't plan to bring all your furniture with you. If I had it to do over again, I would bring only those pieces that I absolutely LOVED and HAD to have. Furnishing a place here is totally different than what we did up North.

I wish you the best of luck. Hope you fall in love with TV as much as we did. We got settled in; sold our RV an determined never to travel from here as it has everything we want!!! Of course, family does come to see us, particularly in the Winter.

We are full time residents or FROGS. We are here until we croak!!! :welcome:

Ditto on what was said. Visit here and get a map. Make sure you are close to your favorite downtown and near a grocery store. You don't want to have to drive your car. We love Spanish Springs town square so bougt in
Santo Domingo. We have sold and bought in Alhambra which is not far from Santo Domingo. When we came we drew a cirle around the town square and told the realtor we wanted nothing outside the circle. Back then there was only Spanish Springs but it is still our favorite.

Re: 58 Villages?

Its a matter of personal choice of a large home, designer home vs. a patio or villa home new or used. Since we own a very large home up north that we will stay during the summer months when it's brutally hot and humid in TV decided on a Courtyard villa at Hadley Village. Now we have visited the villages many times and consider the Morse Blvd side more to our liking than the Buena Vista side.

With the Hadley Village area we feel that the area is perfect because it's not flat like most areas in TV. Also it sits sort of in the middle of the 3 town squares. One of which has yet to be built. All the communities are great so you can't go wrong with any. New homes are being built and sold close to RT 466A now, with more golf courses, homes and communities to come south of it.

Good luck on your choice.
