Will The Villages theaters bring back Dallas Buyers' Club since it is nominated for Best Picture?
|
I saw DBC when it was playing at SS about two months ago. After viewing I said that Matthew McConaughey deserved a Oscar for his performance. He use to only play in romantic comedies and I never paid much attention to him until I saw 'Lincoln Lawyer', which was a good drama. After seeing Dallas Buyers Club and currently he's on HBO in a new series called True Detective, I've noticed he has turned around his career to be a serious actor. The movie DBC is also a true story, which made an even bigger impact combined with the great acting, also by Jared Leto who I believe is nominated for best supporting. It may not be the cup of tea for conservative viewers. The story is about a very red neck individual (McConaughey) who in 1985 gets the disease HIV and at the time the consequences or stigma that goes with it.

Thanks for the review. I was wondering if the movie would be a good one to see. I'll get down there before it isn't showing here any more.
Thanks! |
I wish it would come back around or be available for rent before the Oscars!

We saw DBC Monday and found the performances by McConaughy and Leto to be stellar. Both won Golden Globe and SAG actor and supporting actor awards and deservedly so. Don't see it if you are looking for something upbeat and/or lighthearted. It is heavy and dark, but the performances are a must see IMHO.
