Future resident question on New Year's Eve activities

We will be moving the Villages at the end of December 2007 and would like to start off 2008 celebrating with our new neighbors. Any suggestions on activities planned, restaurants that are having New Year's Eve parties, etc.?
Looking forward to meeting all of you and our new life in the Villages!

We (wife and 23 yr old son) are flying in on the 30th - will probably spend the New Year's Eve with my mother and her 80 something friends; lights out at 10 PM.

Re: Future resident question on New Year's Eve activities

Since our original post, we made arrangements to visit from 12/5 - 12/10, then will arrive permanently on 12/28. We are looking to get together with some of our new neighbors in The Villages if anyone knows of any parties, restaurants that have activities planned, etc. As we will be renting for a few months until we buy, we don't have a permanent neighborhood yet.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

You Can Be Certain Of MAJOR Town Square Programs

Last year, after living here for only a month or so, I went down to Starbucks in LSL to pick up a cup of coffee and a Sunday New York Times. At about 7:15 AM I couldn't find a parking place within three blocks of Starbucks. What the heck was going on?

It turns out that people were staking out their spots in and around the sqauare for the evening's New Year's Eve celebration hosted by Rocky & The Rollers. We had other plans with friends for that night, but reports were that everyone had a great time that night. (We later found that whenever Rocky & The Rollers perform, you always have a great time!)

I'm sure there will be activities on the squares this year as well. But don't think you can just drive on down and enjoy the activities. It may take more advance planning than that. Heck, maybe Rocky will perform this year, as well!

We showed up a LSL at 7:30AM and could not find a spot to set up a tiny table and our chairs so made other plans. Rocky and the Rollers are GREAT but think the squares are crowded whether they are there or not on New Years.

Don't know about rec centers but Nancy Lopez Legacy Country Club ad says no reservations and entertainment. I would get there really early if I was going there.
