Hip pain
Any suggestions on how to treat hip pain without an operation? It is getting hard to sleep at night.

You can try massage and acupuncture.

I'd start with going to your doctor. You'd need to have an MRI to determine what's the core-cause. Sometimes it can be from a lumbar disc issue. Sometimes it can be bursitis as someone already said here OR it can be your hip socket. I'd not go to an orthopedic person....yet! Saying this from my experiences with lower back issues and if it's that then you'd want a neuro-surgeon for wise counsel. I'd never, ever go to an orthopedist for a disc issue!! You might just need pt and some anti-inflammatories.

Many times, hip pain ends up being diagnosed as Sciatica. The pain radiating from the longest nerve in your body controlling the butt and leg muscles and is essentially a back problem....really. You should see a good doctor and if you don't have a PCP, it is time to get one.
I am NOT a medical person. I am a card carrying mom. |

Getting a massage on Tuesday. If that doesn't work off to Voodoo, anything other than the knife. It has hurt more sitting around the past 2 days. I will be glad to get back to walking and golf tomorrow! |

The pain I have now comes and goes some I'm thinking it is arthritis. How do they diagnose bursitis??? |

It's really to bad that people make light of a condition that I hope they never experience as I know the pain this man is in.I thought this part of the forum would not be a joke.

The doctor will figure this out for you and I would rather know what I am dealing with, rather than wonder, what is really happening. That's just me. |

I would be the one you are speaking of. It certainly is NOT a joke, but thank God, not life threatening and treatable. And MANY of us have experienced it and you are right, it is always easier to look back at it and not be in it. I am way too silly at times. And I am sorry. |

I think it is bursitis, at least I hope this is it. There is a knot where it hurts. I can still walk 9 holes of golf twice a day, if this darn weather ever breaks! I do wish there was a good doctor within a golf cart ride??? |
