Charleston, SC

We are planning a trip to Charleston, SC in the spring. We've never been there. Suggestions for things to do or must see places? Thanks!

Carriage ride through the city...problem is they have 3-4 routes and you never know which route your carriage will be on until the driver comes to the starting point.

Charleston

Visit the Magnolia plantation and learn about live in the 1700s and 1800s. Also, some nice historical museums downtown.

Ditto on the carriage ride.

Here are some things to do downtown on your own down near the historic area.

Check out the Historic Charleston City Market.

I would make the visitors center downtown your first stop. They have great information .

Drayton Hall is not far from Magnolia Plantation and has never been modernize. Both are worth seeing. Walking all over down town Charleston and the cariage ride. St. Michael's church and the grave yard. So much history. Not too far out is Boone Plantation that they have used in some movies. Battery park is right on the water in Charleston. Google Charleston and you will find lots to do.

Big Yes on The Citadel, they have a full dress parade daily and it's awesome! We did the harbor boat ride and that was great. Hymans is excellent as is Ahshucks and definitely Harrys Seafood, incredible food!!!! We sat through a 1 hour a cation tour promo thing (no hard sell) and got a $50 gift cert to any restaurant (We chose Harrys) a free carriage ride and a free harbor boat tour, well worth an hour of our time! Check the visitors center for that deal. LOVECharleston! We stayed on Edisto Beach in a house right on the ocean :)

Go to AAA and get a tourbook of Charleston - great ideas for hotels, restaurants, tours, etc. Have been there three times and plan to go back again. LOVE Charleston!
