Welcome Committee

Just wanted to post an FYI: as when we moved here, there is a Villages Welcome Committee that stops by your home with a basket of some sort, and a lot of advertisements from area vendors. First of all, this is NOT from TV... your sales associate may give you a little welcome gift, but this (I believe) is someone's business to advertise for other vendor's. While there may be some worthwhile info included, remember any business they promote is THEIR opinion, and NOT being suggested by The Villages. (I made this mistake.) Second, when a business resorts to bashing another business rather than promoting theirs, let your moral compass be your guide. This is simply in bad taste. Suggestion if your confused or questioning services: get on TOTV, ask your question, and you will get a lot of opinions there too, but it will be from homeowners that have used a particular vendor or service and have the wisdom of their experience to give you. I've learned a lot on here and read up and then make my decision. Good luck!!

When we moved here the summer of 2011 we probably had no less than a dozen calls from welcome committees and everyone of them wanted to test my water. My favorite was the one that said they were from Home Depot and had a $25 gift certificate they wanted to present to me in person, if I only let them stop by to test my water. It's amazing how so many people can worry about someone else's drinking water, but apparently the developer and the county isn't aware of this situation.

Actually, no disrespect intended, I WAS referring to a water system we got...on our own. I know there are a lot of opinions on this subject, so I can only present mine. Having lived in Florida for 23 years before moving UP here (haha...not the norm), we were well aware of the water issues in Florida. We had just replaced, rather than just patch the leaks, the entire water system in our home in order to (conscientiously) place our home on the market. It cost us $3700, more than a few holes in our walls and water pipes in the attic (can you say HOT???). Our water not only tasted bad, it rotted the pipes, gunked up our washer, and I had to replace the water filter in the fridge like crazy. My husband immediately complained about the water taste when we got here, so we got a Pegasus water system and couldn't be happier. My silverware looks clean again, as do my dishes...I don't need fabric softener (another washer gunker-upper), my skin is not dry, on and on and on. Again...MY opinion. I just heard from a neighbor, tho, that this system is being bashed by some (THEIR opinion...I get it) in an effort to sell theirs. I don't like that. Pegasus never bashed anyone, just SOLD us on theirs. Besides, 2 of the new country clubs, Bonifay and Evans Prairie, I believe have this system installed. I'm just saying beware and make your own decisions, whatever they may be.

What does it cost to install a Pegasus system?

It was roughly $3400 for a whole house softener and filtration system. At the time, tho, I got 3 years worth of ALL cleaning supplies. I was a little leary of that, but it WILL last 3 years easily. I get all my soaps, shampoos, detergents, dish washing detergent, glass cleaner...its great stuff too and I can order what I like after the sample pack...love the oatmeal soap, and the shampoo is great, and NO conditioner. I don't need it. The softer water DOES make a difference on everything, I believe. If you're interested I can PM you the contact #.

OH...that was mine...don't know what else they have to offer. Maybe smaller or larger systems.
