Malware?
I keep getting a link to download Online Media Pc Tools .
I refuse it and few seconds later it is back. Can't get rid of it! I have McAfee installed since day 1, and it shows no threat when I scan, also tried Malwarebytes free edition, no help. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks |

Google how to remove and it will give you the information. |
McAfee is not very good. Switch to a Norton version.

HitmanPro Download Research shows that computers still run a chance of getting infected because the existing anti virus program is not giving you a 100% protection. "32% of computers infected, despite presence of anti virus program." Read more... Just relying on a single vendor is not sufficient to completely protect you. You do need a second source to make sure you are secure. But in most cases, installing a second anti virus program is not a viable solution. Two programs are effecting the performance of the computer dramatically, and sometimes even conflict causing the computer to crash. HitmanPro is designed to work alongside existing security programs without any conflicts. It scans the computer quickly (less than 5 minutes) and does not slow down the computer (except for the few minutes it is scanning). HitmanPro does not need to be installed. It can be run straight from a USB flash drive, a CD/DVD, local or network attached hard drive. |
Malwarebytes need to be run when the computer is in safe mode to be most effective. When the computer is starting to boot hit the F8 key to bring it into the safe mode and you will need Safe Mode with networking. This will only load the programs necessary for Windows operation and give you networking capability to get the latest version on Malwarebytes. Get the latest definition file and run the program. When completed delete any malware that was found and reboot the computer into the normal mode.
This has always worked for me even in the worst cases of malware. VG |
Virtual Geezer is 100% correct. Without safe Mode, many virus checks are useless. However, if you aren't able to resolve the issue, give us a call.

Search help for restore point. It is a windows program that rolls your computer back. That may help. Do a little reading about it but it should be safe to run. It will probably undo some program updates so you will have to redo these.

I would go to "tools" and select "managed add-ons. See if there is something that was added to your system and disable it.
Then see if the pop-up goes away. It worked for me as some unknown vendor tried to intrilfrate my system and disabling it for me, did the trick. |
