Is Anyone Following The Petorius Trial?

It's the trial of the olympian who shot his girlfriend, (Reeva), dead, thinking she was an intruder. He also said he felt defenseless, as he has no legs.

Sorry, I am not buying it.

I have a sinking feeling his celebrity status, will get him a light sentence, or none at all, depending on what he is charged with, and if convicted.

Probably a suspended sentence with community work.

What do you think?

This is why we have trail by jury. 12 people who will hear and see 100% of everything the prosecutor and the defense have to offer then make a decision as to guilty or not. It makes no sense for us who read or see only what our biased media have to offer make a judgement. We can read everything available, listen to every news show available and still only get a small fraction of what those members of the jury see. Let them decide.

The Bladerunner trial.

I haven't been watching it, just glimpses. Followed it when it happened. Since this is a different country, a different social climate and he is enormously popular there, I tend to agree with you. I think he is guilty. I think he was all drugged up and killed her. The climate there is one of fear for certain residents, particularly the affluent and break ins are much more common then here for certain classes. His defense will use that I am sure.

You asked for our opinion and I personally don't think he will be convicted. but I think he should be. I agree with your summary.

Passion and anger fueled with drugs aren't a good mix. It is a sad shame after he had overcome so much to be such a successful athlete and role model.

Who? Yeah, I see headlines abut this name but don't read the articles.

South Africa apparently does not have trial by jury.

I suppose a judge will decide.

Not interested in another celebrity side show. We can mourn the innocents who are dead then let the best lawyer win......guilty or not!

I'm somewhat following and not for the celebrity status. Soon after this incident I read he may have Porphyria. Illness is never a defense for murder and that slant sparked some interest for me.

What a spoilt brat!! Not too long before the 'shooting' he took a loaded gun in to a packed restaurant, where he decided to fire this gun, in to the floor. He asked a friend to take the blame!! Some friend eh??

I am in favor of No Jury trials. In South Africa they have two Assessors (I believe they are called) who assist the Judge in determining her decision.

The Jury of your Peers trial should work, but when the Attorneys are able to throw off people for reasons unknown to many of us, they are able to stack the Jury in their favor. Not been very favorably impressed with several of the jury trials we have seen of late!

Nope. Not interested.
