Church on the Square Addition

Drove by The Church on the Square today and noticed the HUGE addition going up. Although it looks bleak and industrial looking, I know that it will eventually be up to TV standards, etc. Does anyone know where I can see an artist's rendition? When will it be completed?

Those of us associated with various performance groups in the Villages (for me it's 2 groups, Villages Musical Company which produces Broadway musicals like the upcoming Brigadoon production, and the new Villages Pops Chorus) have been asking these 2 questions since the announcement of the renovation was made. It is clearly a very small group of people who know what it will look like and when it will be done, and they are not talking. We also don't know whether our groups will have access to perform there or not, although the "word on the street" seems to lean toward the new facility housing the majority of the "hired talent", like The Brooklyn Bridge and other traveling acts, while Savannah Center will still be used for local productions. We'll find out in time.

Further to my original question....there must be permits filed, etc. I don't think someone can just build a building, especially that size, without permitting.

I imagine that it will house the same kinds of things that it did before; The Villages Philharmonic and The Village Voices for two.

I also think that there is no reason for us to think it won't be lovely.

Here is the link to the letter from Mark Morse some time ago.

I doubt local production companies will get access but if they do its going to cost you an arm and a leg...maybe two

That is true everywhere, the pricey cost of the venue for civic theatre and local production companies. AND difficulties finding places to store stage equipment and costumes. And gathering a paying audience. And paying for the rights to perform plays, etc. etc.
