Jay & The Americans

Just got home from seeing Jay & The Americans at the Savanah center tonite. I really wasn't expecting much knowing Jay Black or jay Traynor were no longer with us but boy was I pleasantly surprised! Jay Reincke the current lead man for the group is absolutely amazing. Thanks for a great show guys!!

Jay and the americans concert

Several weeks ago a poster was looking for tickets to jay and americams concert but someone posted save your money, they are terrible. Went to concert tonight and they were excellant with the 3rd jay hitting the high notes just like the first 2. Also sang gene pitney and roy orbison and a surpise steely dan song The 3 originals are 73 yrs. old and the 3rd jay is 60. I guess we all here things differently.:BigApplause:

Performance was fabulous. They are great performers, and nice guys. Yes, Jay III is just right for the part, really authentic voice. The wife and I can really relate to their music. Her 1964 graduating class collected enough money to have them play at the senior prom, so she was in heaven tonight.

No longer with us? Makes it sound like they are both dead. Jay Black is still alive.

Thank You Jay & The Americans.

Jay and the Americans

My friend, Sandy's husband used to sing with them, back when they started!! His mum told him to get a 'real' job, as there would be no money to make singing!!! Oh dear :icon_wink:

I never said that they were terrible. I just said that you should know who you were getting. There is a real blurred line between a band and a "tribute" band. Last year I went to see the Classics IV knowing that Dennis Yost had passed. I went to enjoy the tribute to an iconic singer; but it was a tribute.

In the UK the Animals are touring without Eric Burden (actually with only the original drummer), as are Herman's Hermits (again with only the original drummer). In the US we have the Lovin' Spoonful without Sebastian or Zally.

Al I am saying is enjoy the music, just know what you are getting!

The Steely Dan song(s) are not a surprise considering Donald Fagen and Walter Becker (Steely Dan founders) got one of their original starts as members of Jay and the Americans.

Thoroughly enjoyable show. I liked the format of telling and singing the group's history. Recently saw the Eagles in Kansas City and they used the same historical format in a two and a half hour show. BTW my wife is a big Jay (Dave) Black fan and she had misgivings, but ended up a fan of Jay III.

We too went to Jay & The Americans with friends last night. I was so surprised that the current Jay had such a strong voice just as the original Jay. It was a great, great show. The stories the original cast members had were wonderful. Very nice tributes to Roy Orbison and the Everly Brothers music too. My wife and I were so fortunate to see them years ago. Great show Jay & The Americans. Let the good times rock and roll and thank you.

Also went to the concert; also saw them for there last visit. Pretty much the same show as the last time but still thoroughly enjoyed the performance! Is Jay as good as Jay Black...maybe not, but he does have one heck of a voice and can hit the notes!
The only song I did not enjoy was their Steely Dan....Jay was off stage at the time. Need to stick to the music they do best! If you enjoyed the concert as much as me, please visit their web site and let them know!
