Customers pack Evergreen Buffet to show support for owner

Lunchtime customers on Thursday packed Evergreen Buffet & Grill in Pinellas Plaza in The Villages to support the owner of the new restaurant.
“I have been a fan of China Gourment for a long, long time,” said Village of Sabal Chase resident Thomas Bjers.
But Thursday was the first time he had ventured down to the new Villages’ restaurant owned and operated by Mei Chen and her family. The same family also owns and operates China Gourmet.
He said he made the trip to the restaurant for lunch because he had heard that the restaurant had been the target of a malicious email campaign.

He frequents the family’s China Gourmet restaurant in Colony Plaza shopping center.
“She is so friendly,” Bjers said. “I come in and she always yells out, ‘D-5 with extra brown sauce.’ She knows exactly what I like.”
Chen said she was thrilled to see such a packed house Thursday.
The restaurant opened Dec. 17. Twenty people are employed at the restaurant.

That is nice. I agree Barry. There are far more good, loving and kind people in the world than there are mean spirited and bad people.

Good to see community support for small mom and pop businesses.

What hard workers, they have, and will do everything they can to take care of you and see you have a great meal. What a selection of food!
