Heard a rumor...

... that the Villages is starting construction on a new family area (for families with no one over 55) on 301 just south of 466. Anyone heard anything?

raynan 03-10-2014 03:50 PM

For the workers and their families.

So, once you reach 55, you get voted off the island? Do you really think someone would buy a house and then couldn't live there once they reached 55?

In my humble opinion, it would be nice to offer some amenities in this new section for those who live there. Maybe a pool or a little Rec center for the kiddies, a playground would be nice! Just saying!

:jester: Heard 55 and younger--but 20% could be older than 55

I am sure something can be arranged. How much of a bond are the new residents willing to pay to have these amenities?

And are they willing to pay a monthly amenity and maintenance fee?

If yes to the above then all folks have to do is approach the developer....if he has the land and y'all are willing to pay who knows!!

The new area is called Oxford Oaks. about a 1/4 mile south of 466 on 301. west side of 301. You can see all the land that is in mass grading.
It will be geared at Village Employees. They are doing a big expansion to the hospital and are hoping to attract alot of people in the medical profession along with all other Village Employees. It will be open to others to purchase in also.

As far as pools and so on, it will be up to the Developer, The Villages. The other family units do not have these due to cost and no bonds, or amenity fees.
We in Bison Valley pay a yearly POA fee or HOA whichever you want to call it.

The cost of a pool area along with the parking and utilities to run it are expensive. So most likely it will be up to developer to foot the initial cost or let the residents vote for themselves.

It will be set up for areas for a pool and so on. But like I always say, in The Villages things change daily if not hourly when it comes to construction.

If you go down 301 look on the west side of 301 south of 466 you can see the cleared land. There's a road next to the Sherwin Williams paint store that will bring you back there. Also Wildwood is going to be building a development that will back up to the Village of Belvedere not to mention all the new developments out side of TV that Fruitland Park just approved. It's going to get more crowded around here.

I heard a Bass Pro is going in at 301 and the turnpike.

I think this is good news, thanks GaryW. Maybe some really good workers will move in and be hired by our contractors so that we would get really reliable help. Like our landscaping companies and cleaning crews. Good news!

Looks like the Villages will be starting development of the new project designed for families that work in the villages. more than likely they will be doing this in two fazes with a maximum of 563 single family homes. it will be located on 301 just south of 466. just down the street on 301.
In addition Mission Oaks is adding to there beautiful extended care facility by adding an additional 30,000 sq. ft 33 bed facility. it's my guess that the need for village like housing will be filled by the families of doctors nurses, construction workers. in addition there is a new card (gambling room) quarter horse track about two miles north of there on 301.

When did the horse track/gambling room get approved?
