Bright star in the east-southeast viewed @ 7:00 this morning

It happened again but this time it was even more spectacular than when I noticed it a year or two ago. How long has it been since I first mentioned it? The first time I thought it might have been a satellite. But someone said it was something else. Whatever it was, it was huge and twinkling like a star.

What was it called? I don't remember. Please refresh my memory.

Venus is the morning star. You can also see Jupiter in the evening.

That's Venus you're seeing in the southeast sky. If you look to the southwest early in the morning, I believe that reddish light is Mars but I'm not sure. Early this morning towards the west I could swear that I was looking at a blurry light that looked like a comet. If we have any amateur astronomers here, I would sure like to know if that is what I was watching.

Yes, thanks, now I remember, it was Venus. How can I remember this in the future? I once saw Bobby Vinton, in person, sing "Venus". "Oh, Venus! make my dreams come true." I think that's it.

Maybe it's your porch light.

Download Google's Sky Map. Then just aim your phone at an object in the sky, and it will tell you what you're looking at.

Yes, that's a great program. There are similar ones for IOS devices.

Everyone is wrong it's none other than Frankie Avalon, singing " VENUS " he's a star right, well he used to be.

VPL, you may not have a smart phone. If you don't, do you have a calendar on your computer? You could put a reminder in for this time next year, saying Watch for Venus, or something like that. I have a calendar program called Talking Reminder Talking Reminder - Free download and software reviews - CNET Download.com
that pops up on my computer every day there is something to remember. Very easy to use.
