Noticed The Villages' flags are at half mast. Anyone know why?

Flags are at half mast due to the passing of former Florida Governor Reubin Askew.

I'm a Floridian, and you guys probably don't remember where you were when Gov. Askew caused people to call you Ms. Askew even though your name is Escue.
