Hijacked threads

Please try to start a new thread when a new topic comes to mind. It seems that most of the threads here have been highjacked in one way or another. For those who don't know what that means, highjacking is when the subject of a thread is changed midway through. Please try to stay on track in a thread and start a new one with the new thought. I know it's difficult sometimes, but it make for more orderly and interesting reading.

Thanks
JLK

:agree: :agree:

Just not sure how to do it but I'll learn. I think its the contributors enthusiasm to respond that makes us forget the protocols. Is there a sticky on this protocol and how to start a new thread??

Jan, thanks for being a topic cop :cop: and for all you do for TOTV. I, for one, very much appreciate it as I'm sure all the members do, but I want to be sure to tell you and the Admins that every once in a while --- not too often, mind you, it may go to your head!!!!

Kathie I. (aka Claudia)

Well, Kathie (aka Claudia) I'm not sure what "go to your head" means, but as administrators, we are responsible for the orderly operation of this board. I am sorry if you think that our monitoring the rules and procedures occasionally goes against your sensibilities, but rest assured that we will continue to operate in what we consider to be the best interest of all the members. The administrators of TOTV have years of experience in forum operation, so this is not new to us. For many of our members, this is their first exposure to a chat forum. Not every one of our decisions will be universally popular, however, we will do our best to make this board as good as it can be. If some of the decisions are unpopular, so be it. Imagine what TOTV would be like if there were no administrators at all. ;D

OMG Jan, so sorry - you took that all wrong!!! I was certainly not criticizing, it was actually a complementary and a thank you statement. Kidding about "going to your head", guess you don't know me but I'm never serious and always appreciative of those who do so much for others, especially you guys. I have so much fun and have made such great friends on TOTV that I would never post something controversial or demeaning. Please Jan, forgive me, maybe it was just too early in the morning my time to be writing and I didn't express myself correctly.

Sincerely Kathie

Thanks Kathie,
I suspected that might have been the case. I'm sorry for the firm reply. You did provide me with the opportunity to speak to several others who resist our guardianship.

We all know that one inherent problem with email and forum posts is that the emotional intent is often times misunderstood.

Kathie was just complementing you Jan, it seems.

I do not think she has been in those forums where it is a lawless frontier where anything and everything goes as long as there clicks from Internet users on that site. Overall, you guys do a great job of keeping people treating each other in a decent manner while not stepping to much on the privilege granted by you to express themselves on your boards.

The Internet does seem a lot tamer though than the wild wild west it was when I first started using message boards around 2002.

But before you click on New Topic, please try to make sure it is in the proper subject area.

I asked before for a pull down menu so you could select the subject area but never heard anything about it.

For those that don't understand what i am talking about, say you are in Contractors and Services and you want to start a thread on Golf Carts. If you click on New Topic, your topic will end up in Contractors and Services instead of General Villages Discussion where you actually wanted it.

Just a suggestion.
