My Garmin Nuvi will not charge in my car. Charges OK with wall outlet. Do you think the car charger is defective or what?

The unit appears to be okay so it is most likely the cable you are using. There are a number of ways to charge the unit and with each goes a different cable. I am betting on the cable being bad. You can check it out using a meter. Also what is the connection method in the car? Lighter, hot spot (lighter), or USB port? Now long has this been going on?

If the car charger plugs into the cigarette lighter, there is the possibility the lighter fuse is blown. Plug in your cigarette lighter and see if it heats up and pops out.

Another simple test is to plug your charger into the cigarette lighter of another car and see if it works in that car.

Recently happened to me with another brand of GPS. It WAS the car charger. I found a compatible one on Amazon for $4.99.

One more thing to check is that many cigarette lighter POWER PLUGS have a fuse built into them. I would check that first before spending money elsewhere.
