Did they catch the burglars?

Was walking today, O'dell circle. When I passed Gayle Mill Dr, there was a lot of police activity on G.M. They were talking to a lone white male.

As I got to the Post Office, there was a bunch of Deputy's there, with an older
POS white car. The K-9 was doing a walk-around checking for drugs.

They got the lone female out of the car and searched her. She looked like a real prize.

Don't know anything further, it was too hot to stick around. Maybe there will
be something in tomorrows Sun.

One man sitting in white car with TV in car. Neighbors called the sheriff. Deputy's came and found another man had broken in a home. Deputy's arrest man in car. Other guy ran, that was when we got a phone alert. Deputy said man that ran, stole a car and was last seen in Leesburg. That is when we got an alert cancellation. This happened on Inner Circle. house is owned Canadians who had gone back to Canada.

Deputies on manhunt for burglary suspect in Villages
March 21, 2014 By Meta Minton 10 Comments

One suspect is in custody and a manhunt is on for a second suspect in a burglary this afternoon in the Village of Amelia.
Two suspects were spotted in a white vehicle in the 600 block of Inner Circle at roughly 3 p.m. today.

A neighbor noticed the suspicious vehicle and contacted law enforcement.

When a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy arrived he saw one male sitting in the car. Another male was involved in a burglary in progress.

One of the suspects was taken into custody while the other one took off on foot.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Lady Lake Police Department helped establish a search perimeter on Cherry Lake Road.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office helicopter hovered over County Road 466 in the general vicinity of the Haciendas of Mission Hills, the Village of Caroline, and the Village of Amelia for about an hour.

A sheriff’s bloodhound also joined in the search.

How much time would you think the guy will spend in jail for being convicted of sitting in a car watching TV? Without the runner the police got jack on the guy in the car. As a juror how would I know if the guy in the car even knows Mr. X the runner? That’s my free opinion.

He wasn't "watching" tv. He had stolen property including a TV in his car while his buddy ransacked the place. I'm sure the deputy asked questions that he couldn't intelligently answer probably due to the fact these 2 guys didn't think that far when planning their so-called brilliant plan today. By the deputy arresting the guy that was in the car today he might've prevented him from burglarizing your home. I doubt he was thinking at the time what a jury would think. He did his job today and his efforts shouldn't be brushed aside. Now it's up to the prosecuting attorney to do theirs. Wtg SCSO/LCSO. That's my opinion.

There seems to be a disconnect between the OPs statement that there was a female in the car versus later reports of being two males involved. Can anyone clarify?

billethkid 03-22-2014 05:12 AM

this morning dot com news stated two males in custody...one sitter/watcher and one doing the burgle and running...but caught.

We know they are innocent until proven guilty unless they are caught with the goods....which they were. So we will wait for a jury to reach the same conclusion. And hope some smooth talking lawyer doesn't get them off for some stupid technicality or procedure.......until then they are guilty.

Congratulations to the law enforcement that got them.
Congratulations the the service provider that called it in...he gets the see something say something award and a thank you from this resident.

Evidently the initial call-in to the Sheriff's Office was from a pest control employee who witnessed some suspicious goings-on and dialed 911. Good for him; I hope he gets something positive for his action.

Upon conviction of these criminals, I will gladly contribute to a reward fund for whomever this pest control employee is. Should we start a fund? If a bunch of the folks who are on TOTV kicked in just $5 each, we could show our appreciation.

Villages news on the internet has an article about the burglaries.

And with a shower and a shave and a smooth talking lawyer they will look and sound like .......for some obscure reason......they were innocent victims.

One of the issues will be whether the residents involved press charges. It is not a given they will. From personal experience many years ago, our summer home was broken into. The guy was caught. Out of 6 victims in the area we were one of two that prosecuted. The main reason given? "They know where we live".
Let's hope that does not happen here.

I agree ... Pest control guy is 'the hero' in this case. Actually, common sense but who's quibbling.

What company does he work for?
