Sounds good to me. I would be interested.

CFrance 04-28-2014 10:43 AM

What if you're interested but know nothing at all about bird watching? (me)

We will teach you all we know. Its not complicated, you just sit around and watch for birds. Sometimes its difficult identifying the bird in the book. I always travel with my bird book and check off all the ones I have spotted.

I've already joined the group and you can go with me when I arrive in September. Our house backs up to woods and most likely a lot of birds hanging out in those trees. We can have a glass of wine while were bird watching.

Super! I've got good binoculars and love birds--not to mention wine, of course

Does anyone know of a good FL bird book to buy?

Here's a link to bird books. I have a Birds of Michigan field guide, which is like the first book on this link. Its a good one and easy to use. I also have a Smithsonian ( hardcover ) Birds of America & South America that I use when traveling. They are detailed and more information.

You might want to get a Florida's WaterFowl book also. I can't remember if the small field guide has waterfowl. Its already packed so I can't look for you.

Amazon.com: florida bird book

If you use a tablet check the iBird app. Available for Android and IOS. It goes on sale frequently.

Sounds good to me!

Even if it's a BYOB, my husband and I will be ready
in September with our books and binoculars.

Great, while us girls bird watch our husbands can talk about Dobermans. Tom has always had Dobbies or German Sheppard's. We just put our Doberman down a few years ago, along with our Maltese, within two weeks of each other. We still miss them.
