I have another question for discussion. Suppose we have an all day rain and golfing is impossible. Is it reasonable that those who had a tee time be charged a play point simply because they had a reservation. At tiis times this is exactly what happens.

Reasonable that is. We are all charged the same. It is only my darling husband who lives by the tenant. "It NEVER rains on a golf course". So if it is JUST pouring down and cold with wind and no lightning, he is playing.


He is a REAL golfer, I am told.

You are not charged a play point. You are charged a reservation point. It is your choice whether to play or not as the courses are only closed when there is frost or other conditions when the course may be damaged by play.

What's the difference between a reservation point and a play point if it is raining the entire day and no one plays. In my opinion the one point reservation point impacts that person when making another reservation while someone that did not have a reservation has a one point advantage. And the fact is neither player was able to play. Try to convince me that this is fair.

Since it is golf, it can best be described as " the rub of the green". Sometimes works to your advantage and some times not. Accepting your hypothesis that there is an advantage gained I would venture to say over a year most golfers would gain more of an advantage ( by not having a scheduled tee time the day there are no cancelation points) than be disadvantaged ( by having a reservation on said day and not playing).

Besides, who among us thinks golf is fair in the first place?

Think of it this way. You got a reservation because you had fewer points than someone else. You chose not to play because of the weather. You were not told you couldn't play. It was your choice. If you did not get the reservation point, you maintain your advantage over the other player even though you did get a reservation. That is not fair to the other person.

The only way I think it could be fairer would be if they give you 1/2 point for a reservation, and 1/2 point for showing up and play = 1 point. If it's raining and you cancel you would get 1/2 point. If it's not a weather day and you cancel, you get 1.5 points. But in the end, it's not going to change, as I'm sure whoever designed the points system put a lot of thought into it. Best to just smile, and enjoy the day. :) It still beats working any day. :MOJE_whot:
