What people write

So I must have too much time on my hands to even write about this but I need to.

When someone is looking for a service the message always begins with " I am looking for the absolute best service for the cheapest price".

Are you kidding me?

When you were working, were YOU the BEST at the CHEAPEST price?

In my old job if you were the cheapest it reflected in your workmanship and you fall by the wayside. My last 2 and a half years in the military were spent as a contract construction inspector. In my office was a sign that read, " the bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of low prices are forgotten".

Perhaps it was best said by Alan Shepard: When reporters asked Shepard what he thought about as he sat atop the Redstone rocket, waiting for liftoff, he had replied, "The fact that every part of this ship was built by the low bidder."

It might help if folks considered what having the lowest bid can really mean. Reasonably priced I understand; lowest price I don't get.

How about, " I am looking for the best value for the absolute best service?"
When I make a recommendation, that's what you'll get from me - the best value that I can find for the absolute best service. Sort of like the "Good Housekeeping Seal!" Of course, it's only MY opinion.

In most cases, you get what you pay for.

Imho

You can get a handyman, that will do quality work at a reasonable price.

If one were to do a big job, I would tend to throw out the highest bidder and the lowest bidder. The one is the middle is probably the true value for the workmen.

You can find people who will do the necessary work ,but you have realize you get what you pay for.

I would rather see a job done correctly, than to have to lament, that it looks like cr*p, every day when looking at it.

Redwitch: The Alan Shepard quote was one of the best I have ever heard. I may have it quilted on a pillow!

Where I worked, we had cut-back after cut-back. I saw a sign somewhere that described our work situation.

"We, the unwilling, led by the unknowing, have been doing so much for so long with so little, that now, we can do anything with absolutely nothing."

Buy cheap - buy twice

eweissenbach 03-29-2014 10:48 AM

One of my bosses used to say "cheap things are seldom good, and good things are seldom cheap".

Zig Ziglar used to say, "better to spend a dollar more than you wanted and get quality than a dollar less than you should have and end up with something inferior."

EDIT: sorry, I didn't see Don quoted this saying above, but hey, it's a great saying, worth repeating ;-)

Not a problem. Not my original saying and I should have put a Unknown at the end since I don't know the true source.

I have almost always wanted to buy something a LITTLE less expensive than what my husband would decide on. I have almost always been wrong.

2BNTV 03-29-2014 02:29 PM

As my son always says, "buy it nice, or buy it twice".

My father believed in buying good quality clothes, as they lasted a lot longer than the cheap stuff. He always made an entrance, sharply dressed and neat as a pin. He believed in the conversative look as it never goes out of style.

I personally think he wanted to dress as a movie star, and he did.
Very strong resemblance to George Raft in his looks.

Both of them are right. My son, always dresses well. IMHO
