Motor Oil on Driveway - How to clean?
Does anyone know of a product that will clean motor oil from pavers on the driveway?
|
Regular kitty litter, not the clumping kind. The oil will still probably leave a stain.
|
Until you figure it out I would put liquid soap on it.

Thanks to all for your help. Going to try dish soap for now.

That is the upside of using pavers. You can just replace them individually.
I have read that you can spray WD40 liberally on the stain; let it soak, then hose it off. I need to do that on mine. Well, its on my list anyway. |
If you use kitty litter you need to grind it in with your foot. It will take more of the stain out.

The oil soaks into the concrete and will leave a stain forever. I've had the best luck using Tide powder detergent, wet it somewhat, let it set for awhile, scrub it then rinse it off. Try doing this a couple times and it will lessen the stain but never make it go away completely.

Go to a name brand auto store, there are products out there specifically for removing oil stains. Having said that, if the oil is really dirty, I do not think these will work either, but I would try one od these, and borrow a power washer, repeat as necessary.

Have also used Xylene paint thinner too with good results. |

I clean my drive way 2 times a year using a product called Snow Cap
Snowcap - Wide Variety of Uses You can find it at the hardware store in Spanish Springs Leaves your drive way looking new. |
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. Will try them all until one works!

+1 for Dawn. Just use a stiff brush to scrub into the stain and let the rain do the rest. No need to rinse.
