Resident ID
 

I am looking for a rental for January 2015. I notice that some ads indicate that the usual $50 identification card is available. I have had this before and this will not get me into everything. Specifically, at Mahjonng if there are too many people, all residents are seated first regardless of what time they arrived. I have read some rental ads that indicate that a Resident ID is included. It sounds like it is different than the regular $50 ID that you can get with most rentals. Does anyone know anything about a Resident ID for renters? I believe this is usually with rentals from managers rather than directly from owners.

The $50 fee is and always has been for the resident ID. The owners have to turn in their ID cards and you are issued a paper ID card that states you are a resident. You then have all the rights and privileges of being a homeowner.

So, if you paid the $50 and were denied access because the room was near capacity, it meant one of two things -- either the individual at the rec center misread your card and thought you were a guest or the homeowner pocketed the $50 and simply had a guest ID card issued to you. If you picked your ID card up at a rec center or if it was given to you by the homeowner or his/her agent, then you had a guest ID. If you picked it up at the Sales Office, you had a resident ID.

BTW -- It doesn't matter who rents you the property -- owner or agent. What does matter is where you get the ID card.
