Fresh Eggs

Some questions for the homesteading set at TV. Are there any limits on the number of chickens one can keep at The Villages? Is it true that roosters are not permitted in the premium neighborhoods? Is there a Tractor Supply or other good feed store close by? Golf cart accessible? Ever lose any chicken to the gators? It would seem that a court yard villa could work well for a small flock. Thanks in advance for your helpful replies.

You don't need a rooster for eggs, just for chicks. You can get feed delivered. (Just in case it's not an AF joke)

Oh dear. I can't keep chickens? Did someone report Oscar for pooping on someone's lawn or for having sex in the front yard?

I'm laying low on this one.

OK my post is related to today's date but here's a link to recent local news:Leesburg allows chickens in residential areas - Daily Commercial: News

Having grown up on a farm, I find this idea ridiculous.

And while the lifelong residents of Leesburg loathe the idea of The Villages and the developer invading their nice town....

Leesburg neighbors who keep their yards clean and tidy will now have to put up with the dirtiest animal ever raised on a farm, and chicken wire pens, feathers, and piles of stinking chicken manure that the owners do not remove.

After a few years of this with irresponsible chicken owners next door, ruining the look of the neighborhood and property values, they will appreciate TV's deed restrictions, water safety management, sewage disposal, rules about fencing, limited number of pets, etc.

TV and the developer are going to look darn good to the sensible people of Leesburg once they have chicken yards next door.

IF not an April Fool's question....you will NOT be able to keep chickens here despite what Leesburg has issued. We're NOT a farming community! There are several areas of where you can get your farm-raised eggs (farmer's market being one).
