Crazies out there

I was heading back towards Spanish Springs from Lake Sumter Landing in my cart about 9:30 last night. I had just merged onto Morse Blvd from the cart path, going north, when out of the darkness a gas cart passed me on the right, on the grass, with NO LIGHTS ON. It pulled in front of me onto the Morse cart lane and after going about 75 yards did an abrupt U-turn across Morse Blvd directly in front of a car which honked and slammed it's brakes on. It seemed the cart was on 2 wheels for an instant. It then went south and turned into Barrazzo Ct., still with no lights on.

A man was driving but I couldn't tell what age or if anyone else was in with him.

Wow,that sounds like a kid or a drunk. Be safe everyone.

Sorry this happened to you Ron. I hope your OK.

Expect the unexpected, is my rule of thumb.

My son who has lived in NY and Florida says FL drivers are crazy, in that they will do something, totally unexpected. After being here a year, I tend to agree with him.

For all those who hate New Yorkers, I can only say. We do learn how to handle a car and avoid accidents, as they are many aggressive drivers, who have to get to where they are going, in almost, no time.

Life my nephew says, "One does not drive fast, they just have to be first".

Be careful out there.

You want to see crazy drivers try the NJ Garden State Parkway!

Topspinmo 04-04-2014 08:36 AM

Or any 4 way stop in any state of the union. Remember your not in line until you STOP! And that's before or at the stop sign not 10 feet pass it.

Just couldn't believe he was driving in the dark with no lights, besides his reckless driving.

I think we drive an invisible car , because almost every time we are out and about someone pulls right in front of us... good thing my husband and myself have good reaction time but darn my finger is getting tired of giving a salute !!!!

Today I was driving my cart to Colony Shopping Area. As I was approaching the tunnel by Havana a cart passed me and then went into the tunnel. He barely slowed down for the speed bump and proceeded not to stop at the exit but continued by making a right turn. If another cart had been approaching that tunnel there would have been a bad accident. Fortunately no one was coming but I don't think he looked either way.

yesterday an impatient old guy refused to wait behind three carts and a car at the 4-way intersection at Del-Mar.After beeping his horn three times[traffic was slowed due to the farmer's market day] he proceeded to make his own lane and passed us all on the left.He turned left without stopping.People were yelling at him but with his windows up,probably didn't hear a thing. The world's most impatient people are here in the Villages.

MOST of the drivers in TV are not from Florida. Please do not make everyone thing that FLORIDA drivers are crazy. It is the out of state drivers that move here!

I lived in Jax Fl for over 35 years and we all drove normally (is that a word?).

It has more to do with age of drivers than where they come from.

This morning (Friday) about 8:45 am, I was driving north on Buena Vista. When I slowed for the roundabout I looked left as usual and to my shock, there was a car also driving north in the south bound lane on the other side of the median. They stopped and then proceeded to drive past me into the roundabout. I'm pretty forgiving about some of the strange things we all see while driving, but this one did shake me. Drive cautiously out there!

You talk about crazies.... this morning as my husband & I were going to yard sales, we came upon a crowded one. I let him out and continued down the road to find a parking place. This guy came toward me and was forcing me into the car parked on my right. He shouted at me which made my husband go over and tell him to please chill out as it was a crowded situation. He drew a gun on my husband and said "you don't want to "f" with me!!! He was so stunned that he didn't get his plate #. I wish he had as we would have called the cops. Be careful out there!
