Villages Gate Hit my car

When I was going through Morse South operator controlled gate Friday at about 4:30 the operator waved me through and dropped the gate on my car when I was halfway through. The gate hit the top of my car and bounced as I drove along.
I stopped about 10 yards from where she hit my car with the gate and went back to speak with her. She wanted my contact information and said that a supervisor would contact me.
I called the community watch number as I drove away and was told that if the gate operator had my contact information a supervisor would call me.

On Monday I called the community watch again and was again told that a supervisor would call me.
I received a call from the community watch desk and she said that I should call Human Relations after about a week. Still no call from a supervisor.
What should my next step be? Any ideas?

Call Human Relations after about a week.

The Supervisor is probably investigating the incident- (pulling the video) to see exactly what happened. They have everything on video --although not high quality they can see the gate attendant open the gate and the gate that hit your car. I would stop by the Community Watch office- I think they are on Wedgewood over behind BBT.

I think I would file with my insurance company and let them go after responsible entity.

Is yourvehicle damaged?

I don't think I'd file with my insurance company. They quite possibly could raise your rates, and whatever damage you have probably wouldn't be worth that. I'd trust The Villages is good for it.

Was your car dented or what?

While you may follow the suggestions to make telephone calls - I suggest that you follow each call up with an e-mail summarizing the conversation. I would also ask the H.R folks where to file an incident report; and if there is damage - photograph it! The name of the game is documentation!

Thats too bad.
Go back and take the gate off and say it's "evidence".
That'll get their attention.

Now that is funny. Pull up with some tools, and start unbolting it. see what kind of response you get,,,
If no damage not sure I would worry. But wait a week and follow up.

I don't understand all the chatter. OP was advised to wait a week and call. Why speculate on what will happen? If nothing happens after the phone call, then you raise hell!

I have watched as cars entered on a descending gate arm and it just went back up again. I think. Am I remembering wrong?

Happinow 04-07-2014 05:17 PM

Need clarification

Does the gate attendant have the ability to close the gate? I thought they just opened it. Maybe you were proceeding too slow and the gait went down? Otherwise, why would the attendant close a gait when a car is going through it? Doesn't make much sense.

lucky me. I got hit driving "Harelip"...a taco truck named for the shape of his bumper, who had seen me through hard times as a landlady. it was just another little smack for Harelip and me. yes, the attendant made a mistake. Harelip forgives. I think he's onto something...
