Another arrested in mugging of woman outside TJMaxx

The person allegedly driving the get away car that was part of the mugging of a woman outside The Villages TJMaxx store has been arrested and held on 20,000 bond. The woman whose purse was stolen was hospitalized with broken bones as a result of this crime, if I remember correctly.

This woman who was arrested has apparently been arrested before. Here is one of her mugshots. Her name is Latoyia Inmon.

I feel better each time I see news of an arrest. I hope they make it clear we aren't sitting ducks here. Thanks to the combined law enforcement community for making this happen.

What happened to innocent until proven guilty? The posting of arrest shots and giving names really bothers me -- what happens to the one arrested if innocent? Have never heard of anyone mentioning the outcome of these type of cases.

I'm glad that law enforcement is taking these crimes seriously and working hard to find the culprits, I just wish that Florida didn't allow the publishing of names and mug shots of those arrested but not convicted.

I thought Latoyia was a girl's name.

This is really good news! Thanks to all of you law enforcement folks who worked so hard to apprehend this (alleged) elusive felon.

This is not the mugshot of the current arrest. Her picture was caught on a surveillance camera using the victims credit card if I remember correctly. It was then sent to nearby counties including Orange county where she lives and working together they apprehended her.

Now maybe she is innocent of this crime, but in my mind she has been arrested for prior crimes. Do you think this is politically incorrect, Dee?

Your right. Not everyone accused is guilty. Been there done that right here in river city.

It seems to depend on the circumstances a lot. I know it is very hard to enforce laws when you have to look at the totality of the circumstances rather than just the facts like name, weight, height, race, hair color, statements, arrest location, crime accused of, etc.

DUI arrest mugshots seem to try to shame the person into turning over a new leaf. Not sure how often this actually works. The AA meetings and other support groups would probably be better than this equivalent of putting someone in the stocks.

Then there are child molesters, rapists, etc. who should be kept away from kids even if they are just accused. Except that this is one of the worst things to accuse someone of if they are innocent. And, I would bet that unscrupulous people in child custody cases would play this card. I have seen other similar despicable moves played when the stakes were even lower. http://www.fox23news.com/news/local/...lJKnF0OYg.cspx

There could be cops with some kind of agenda or vendetta against the accused.

Not sure PC has anything to do with this. I just don't like the news media posting names and pictures of those arrested, especially since they don't mention if the person was ever found to be not guilty. What we think is totally irrelevant. Do remember that she could have as easily been previously arrested for possession of marijuana rather than a violent crime. So, we're tarring her without all facts and that's the media's fault (and please note I'm including myself in this -- I, too, think she looks like a hard case and is probably guilty).

Yes. If George Zimmerman's photo had not been published, maybe more of the story would have come out as to the real reason he shot the guy, instead of the media and leading politicians playing the race card for months in advance of the trial.

If I'm walking down the street and I see a woman that looks like Latoyia Inmon, I am going to hold onto my wallet (even if Graciegirl didn't post the photo--lol).

Without the facts? Maybe so ... but let's face it. This woman is guilty as sin. There's always a chance etc she innocent but then again, it's somewhere between slim to none. Publishing the photos provides a public service.

Gotta love the Lady Lake Police Dept. They really are tenacious and solve many crimes. Also, in doing so, they help other police departments solve their crimes.

That was quite a mess.

I do think the more careful police departments would look at a lot of factors before going to the media.

Guys and Girls, if one is arrested, mugshots are too vital an asset to the media for our pipsqueaking about alleged criminals' reputations to have an effect. Inquiring minds want to know, as the tabloids say.
