Alternative to TV golf carts

I just found out my 2010 refurbished golf cart purchased in the villages is out of warranty. They have a requirement that any cart they warranty(refurbished) has to be serviced by them. I have it in now and they just finished it , contacted me for payment before returning it and it seems a little steep. 317 dollars for annual service, a " shim", drive belt, and two new shocks. They told me none of these are warranted anyways. Is there a better way to have these older carts serviced or do I need to expect this annually? Thanks....

Well the shocks cost about $20ea, belt $10.

So labor an hour tops $100

Bill s/b $150, $317 isn't steep, it's highway robbery

You need to add the annual maintainence cost of about $79.99 to Jimbo's numbers so you are up to $230 at least. Probably two hours labor for annual service and repairs so it is not robbery jus ya little high. Also, did they pick it up and return to your house? If so, add a little more. Lastly, is it repaired correctly. I feel that they do a good job, so no lower price is a good deal if the repair is not done properly.

Mechanics ARE experts and should be paid according to their skills. If a person can't do it themselves then it stands to reason that they will need to pay someone to do it.

Where are you buying drive belts for $10?
Cheapest I could find was $32 online.
Unless you mean a starter belt?

Solar golf carts (a sponsor) has them from $21.

In fact almost anything you need for your cart

I would question that I was told as long as you have receipts that the cart was serivced they would cover the warranty.

They broke the charges down as follows: key blank (5.99), bushing offset (19.9), shk assy (131.90), pipe 3 -280mm (5.49), HDR- v- belt non- efi (58.49), Yamaha tune up kit (17.60), oil (4.95), pick up and delivery ( 10 dollar bargain),annual service gas labor (42.45).. Tax 20.78

I'm not trying to slam the developer,

for the one poster, and yes I do believe in paying a fair price, I just don't plan on being taken advantage of. I'm simply asking a question, is this reasonable and should it be expected annually under normal conditions. And I'm asking this of those more experienced in golf carts than me. For the record I had it back at 3 today, same day turnaround, and runs great.

The warranty expired this Jan.

Bob,
You state that belts are $10.00 then you state that your company has them starting at $21.00. I think I'll take the $10.00 ones.

You don't want a 10 dollar belt, nor do you want the 21 dollar belt. The belt the poster was sold was a better than OEM belt.
Deal with someone that KNOWS golf cars and you'll be way better off in the long run, even if it costs you a couple of dollars more.
