Short-term rentals while waiting to purchase
 

Does anyone have any suggestions regarding rentals in The Villages while waiting to purchase and closing, particularly in the January to April time frame, without paying exorbitant seasonal rental fees? Is that possible or is this a pipe dream? Specifics would be greatly appreciated.

Try talking with some FSBO's who may be interested in renting in lieu of waiting forever for a buyer these days. Particularly if they HAVE to move.

When we were looking, we found several folks who would do a lease purchase with a substantial portion of the rent going toward the purchase. None of these deals were advertised, you have to ask and negotiate as sellers prefer to sell but will often opt for the other alternatives if the deal looks good.

We actually found a resale we love that was a straight up sale but the other possibilities do exist. Don't be intimidated and negotiate, negotiate. Now is the time!

A friend and expert real estate investor once told me, "If your not embarrassed with your offer it's too high!". Good Luck!

Hi Ouida,
We own a 2 bedroom, 2 bath house in the village of El Cortez. Very close to Spanish Springs town center (within walking distance).
We have had long term renters for a few years that come down from Chicago every year. They have finally decided to purchase a home in The Villages and our house will be available March 1st.
Since they will be leaving us, we are planning on moving into our house. We currently live in Orlando and it will take us awhile to get our current home ready to sell and then who knows how long it will be on the market in the current environment.
We are interested in renting The Villages home for a few months starting in March and are willing to be very reasonable with rental rates. If you would be interested, let us know and we will be glad to work with you.

Thank you so much for responding to my thread. We have not sold our home in NC at this point but have had a couple of very good showings recently, the latter of which may even make an offer. IF (big "if") that does happen, then we are concerned about getting down there during the winter season when rental rates are so high.
