roto-rooter
Hi there,
hubby has been seeing another urologist for some time now in which i urged him to find someone else..but he didn't listene...he has since retired and a new doc has been recommend by primary care doc...meanwhile with old doc psa levels were rising...prostate was supposedly ok...doc said not to worry....let me worry for you...yeah right...we just went to the new doctor...dr roache....not sure of spelling...he is over by walmart on 466..if you are going west on 466 its the side road just before walmart..down about 1/4 mile on right...he is being aggressive with hubbys prostate...said someone should have been watching this more closely, hubby really likes him and he was VERY thorough..put him on a med to help shrink the LARGE ORANGE SIZE prostate....and also if this does not do the trick..he suggests roto rooter as well... |
Ask your Dr about Jalyn, a combo of Avodart and Flomax. Worked pretty well for me.

The practice that babbs mentioned is Advanced Urology Specialists
I have been a patient of Dr Taub for 11 years. |
I used Dr Dersch in the Prostate Clinic right behind the Walmart on 466. He was very quick to diagnose it and I spent one night in the hospital for observation only. Not really any pain and it did solve the problem. I highly recommend this DR.

Rising psa should be watched closely. Mine went from 1 to 4.3 over 4 year period. Had prostate biopsy. Have cancer and will now go to tomotherapy. Do not ignore !! No symptoms but it was there!! Good lock.

I highly recommend Dr Dersch as well. |
get a biopsy, even then the cancer may be worse than the 8 to 10 samples that are taken

I am not a urologist, but I do stay at Holiday Inn Express when I go to Duke Cancer Center for follow up on my prostate cancer with which I have ten years experience.
If you are concerned, the next step is referral to a urologist. "See a urologist" is the only advice you should listen to from a lay person. |

I noticed in the newspaper that Advanced Urology Specialists is offering a free prostate exam. I made an appointment but then canceled it because I thought it might be someone new in training. Would I be examined by Dr. Taub? |
Factors affecting PSA Levels:
A quick search brought up the following information:
Among the many reasons that can raise PSA levels is: Ejaculation, which can increase PSA levels for 48 to 72 hours. Also, extended exercise which can elevate PSA levels for 48 hours. 4 mg/ml is considered normal. So, with 1.7, I think my doctor was right when he suggested there's nothing to worry about. Come to think of it, it's likely that I engaged in one of the above activities which raised my number temporarily. :read: |

Why didn't you ask when you made the appointment. This is a very professional practice. |
