Old Republic TV Home Protection $100 Fee
Our ceiling fan blew yesterday. Yes, we even saw a puff of smoke and a pop.
So I pulled out our Old Republic home Protection Contract. We closed March 10th and have not used it. I was surprised to see a $100 "Trade Call Fee" which they charge whether they do anything or not. Doesn't seem worth the risk of having them come out. A ceiling fan would cost about the same amount. Anyone else use this and do they pay for a new ceiling fan? I did see ceiling fans are covered. |
If it is a new home AND you had the fans pre-installed, I would call Home Warranty to see if they will take care of it. If you had them installed after purchasing, I would call the installer.

This was a pre-owned certified home. The ceiling fan was here when we bought. The ceiling fan is included in the warrenty. But the policy shows a $100 fee for them to come out.

Most home warranties cover the replacement cost of the item in the trade fee. Please share what you find out - could benefit some folks in the future.

Consider it just like an insurance decuctible. Old Republic must have raised it's fee $25, I payed $75 four years ago when our AC motor went.
