Financial adviser vs broker
If an adviser is stock broker aren't they just going to try & sell you stocks etc.
I went to finra.org but can't tell much looks like a lot of Raymond James brokers etc. Who are true advisers to get ideas/plans for tax savings and general retirement planning. I have no intention of buying stocks I can invest at much higher returns on my own. Who do you recommend that you have used? Any sponsors on TOTV are welcome to PM me |
A number of investment advisor also hold stock broker licenses and sell a company's products for commission. Many advisors/brokers also won't tell you that fes are negotiable

Todd, in my post I said "I have no intention of buying stocks I can invest at much higher returns on my own."
Sounds like that's what you're offering? |
One Person's Opinion
Charles Schwab gives you the option of investing on your own via their web site, or you can get into a Schwab Managed Account, if you have 100K to start.
Financial advisor is someone who you can trust, to meet your goals and plan your life accordingly. Broker is their to sell stocks/bonds. Period. If you go the managed account route, the yield or return, will depend on your risk tolerance. I like to sleep at night, so I have a conservartive type portfolio. It is very devisified. When the market goes down, it loses less, than when it goes back up. You can't time the market anyway. This is not financial advice, but something that works for me. I'm a no fuss, no muss, type of guy. If I have to watch every transcaction, it takes away from enjoying life in TV. IMHO |

Carla, that is correct thank you,
Any exist around here? |
Google, Fee only financial advisor. They work on a hourly fee. When you get to the web page that explains what they are, you can put your zip code in and you will come up with several that are close to you. I know there is one in the villages, but I don't remember their name. They are not in the business of selling you stocks.

The words "financial plan" seems to mean many different things to different people. Often people get focused on specific issues that raises their awareness about needing more a more formalized plan and approach...
Where do you percieve financial planning gaps in your current/future situation? |
Well I'm not going into detail on a forum as to where my gaps may be I'm so far coming up with a few names or firms anyone have any experience with them.
