Villages Relocation Service

Does anyone know about Villages Relocation Service. We have purchased a home in TV and are still in the process of selling our home up north and moving our household. While we were interviewing movers one, today, told us that TV had a relocation service but suggested that they "are probably not much cheaper than we are". Does anyone have experience with them. Are they a cost effective alternative? How do we get a hold of them?

I used the relocation service and they were a big help. They found the Virginia realtor for me who sold the house in 30 days. Call them. You only move once but they move people everyday.

Lynn222 do you have a number or contact info for them?

We found out the hard way you must use one of the realtors suggested by the Relocation Service to take advantage of the moving services they provide. Something about splitting the commission. We had our house sold before we asked about the movers--going with 2 Men & a Truck instead. Pricey but the same two men load it, deliver it and don't share the truck.

For another opinion... we used them for realtor suggestions in 2012 and were sorely disappointed with the realtors. In fact, they did nothing toward the sale of our condo except list it. No ads, no open houses, and bad care of the house after showings when we were out of the country. We dropped them after our return and took the house off the market. The next spring we used local knowledge to find a realtor and got much more professional service.

We used the relocation service for mover suggestions. Movers were fine, but I couldn't say that we saved any $. I think if you know of good realtors and good movers from friends, that's a way to go.

I used TV relocation service for real estate agent and was extremely disappointed. The first one was a incompetent idiot. Supposedly, she was one of the top agents in our area. I ended up switching agents as I could not tolerate her stupidity.

I made a post like your several months ago and I was advised against using TV relocation service and I should have heeded the advice from TOTV members. I regret our decision to use them.

When we were interviewing agents I asked one of them how much commission TV gets when the house sells. They take 50%. Pretty high don't you think? I wish I had of hired my own agent and they could have kept all the money.

I would like to add after switching agents we have 6 showings scheduled between Friday and Monday.

Good luck and don't take the easy route like I did. Do some research and find your own agent.

Tippy, smart question (that we never thought to ask). I think that might explain why our agents did next to nothing to actually market our condo.

This is good advice in bold/yellow above. Agents and assistants here do not know your hometown market and character of listing agents like you and your neighbors and friends living there can actually see with their own eyes and experiences.

Our house in New Hampshire had been on the market for 6 months without any offers. Our sales guy, Jim McLauglin, suggested Loretta at Villages Relocation. She gave us names of a couple of agents in southern New Hampshire that they worked with. We interviewed both... chose one... and the house sold in 4 days. They maintain a network of effective agents and brokers around the US. I don't really care what percentage of the commission TV gets... the important thing is they sold the house.

Used the Villages Relocation Service to sell our home in Arlington Heights, IL back in July of '09. The realtor that was chosen after the interviews was a proven pro. A staging service was provided and open houses started thereafter. The realtor was required to report to the Relocation Service on a regular basis. The house sold quickly which was no small feat in '09. We were provided with three moving companies to interview, and all quoted corporate rates. People we know were amazed of the fact that The Villages had such a service.

That all sounds good, Chuck and Chi-town. Wish we had had a similar experience in 2012. We were told nothing about them having to report to relocation services in TV, nor were the movers suggested giving us corporate quotes.

Maybe things have changed since you used them?

We were told that you can just use the moving service and not the realtor when we talked with the relocation service two weeks ago.
