Has anyone had any experience in getting rid of this Trojan? My Norton scan shows that my laptop is infected yet my extensive searches of everything from programs, to task manager, to registry entries has turned up not one file deemed to be associated with this threat. Malwarebytes has not found it in the several scans I have done with it. My computer acts fine and has displayed none of the behavior that I have read that this Trojan causes. I am wondering if I actually have a problem? Norton is saying that this Trojan must be manually removed, yet when I go looking for files associated with it I find nothing. I have always been able to fix the few infections I have had over the years but this one is a puzzler. Any ideas from you folks who are much more knowledgeable than I?

Google search shows using Norton Eraser and reinstalling any system files using the Windows installation disk.

Thank you. I tried the Norton Eraser but scans still show the Trojan. I do not have a Windows disk. I have been all over the Internet looking for a fix but most sites just want to sell me a removal tool. They scare the heck out of folks and most list different files that need to be removed if done manually....I am not falling for that, since there is so much disparity in the files the different sites list! I will keep looking and may have to take my laptop to someone if I keep hitting a brick wall!

Try a boot time scan and see if that works

Not that it will work but if you have done a system restore point on Windows and you think it is a date that preceded you becoming infected with this trojan, you might do the restore to that point in time and see if that works. One note, anything you have added since that restore point to present will be lost. Good Luck

If you have no installation disk I don't know if I'd be removing system files because you could always make your computer inoperable and then you'd be forced to try to buy a system disk on line or go buy a new copy of windows. Might be time to take it to an expert. Maybe try to get help from the Villages Computer Club. I'm like you, I try to do things myself and have several years background in working with computers, but sometimes I get myself in deep and call in an expert. Good luck.

Since I have no idea when, or even IF I got an infection, I would not do a system restore. Right now I am scanning with a third program to see if IT finds anything. I am beginning to think that Norton threw me a false positive on this one! Also, I will not remove any files, especially in the registry, until I know for sure I even have this Trojan on my laptop. I might be convinced that I do if I had found even one file associated with it. I appreciate all of the tips, just the same.
