Re: What country/countries did your grandparents immagrate from?
Ok, I'll start:
Both set of grandparents born in Italy. On my mother's side, they came to U.S. in early 1900's and oldest aunt was born in Italy but the rest of the children, 11 of them (yes, 11!!) born in U.S. Unfortunately, only 9 grew to adulthood. Father's side is a little different. Hate to admit it but grandpa had to leave Italy as he was accused of shooting someone (yes, I just said that - don't know if the man died) and he took my grandmother who was probably only 16-17 at the time and they went to South America, Argentina, I believe. There they had 3 children and then came to the U.S., where they had 3 more children. After I heard this story when I was a little girl, I always paid attention to what grandpa said. Certainly didn't want to get on his bad side!!! Now you know where my shyness comes from, Kathie   |

Re: What country/countries did your grandparents immagrate from?
My mother's side is real easy -- she's German. Her family goes back 300 years, she was 7th in line for the Hapsburg title. I was born in Germany.
My father's father was Scottish through and through. My father's mother was a mutt but her family had been in the United States the longest and if you asked her what she was, she'd tell you "American." So, half German, quarter Scottish and quarter American and proud of all parts! |
Re: What country/countries did your grandparents immagrate from?
Germany on my father's side and that was probably not that far back as genealogy goes. Quite far back on my mother's side we came from Ireland, Scotand, and England. Females in that line probably qualify for Daughters of the American Revolution.
One of our family trees lists a George Stimson (born 1641) who emigrated from Scotland to Chebacco (now Ipswich) MA sometime before or @ 1678. |
Re: What country/countries did your grandparents immagrate from?
Mother's family came from Germany, actually Prussia, the German land on the Baltic that is now Poland.
My father's mother's family came from Sweden, and his father from Alsace, France. Anyone done any genealogy on Sweden? |
Re: What country/countries did your grandparents immagrate from?
All four of my grandpapents came from Italy before 1910. They were all from the small towns outside Naples . Parents were both born in NYC,

Re: What country/countries did your grandparents immagrate from?
What is great of America is that it does not matterr where your grandparents and/or parents were from but what YOU ARE.
One of the greatest thing the founding fathers did was to prohibit titles of nobility. |
Re: What country/countries did your grandparents immagrate from?
