Want (not quite instant) Hot Water?
 

We have a 3 mo old TV home in Gilchrist. My better 1/2 did not like the wait for hot water - sinks and showers. Of course pipes are underground and hot water takes a while to get to the tap - seemed almost a minute in some cases. Waste of water, and time.
So bought a 'Watts Brass & Tubular 500-800 Whole House Hot Water Recirculating Pump' on Amazon - $199. Had Mike Scott plumbing install (about $ 125).

It's not "instant" hot water at the tap, but darn close. What's nice is that the pump is very small, attaches to the output of HW heater and has a timer - so can have the pump auto turnoff at 15 min intervals (we have it off at 11PM-7AM). We feel it's a great investment, and sure is great to have (actually) hot water on tap.

Also had a Waterboss water softener installed which is great. The HW pump and softener are available at many outlets, but Amazon seemed to be the best for us.

I agree -- we installed a hot water recirculating pump as well. Ours is a Grundfos -- I believe they also manufacture the Watts unit.

Most of these pumps will support 2 mixing valves, so I put one under the kitchen sink and another in the Master bath. Now both areas have hot water within approximately 10-15 seconds. Prior to that, the wait was 30-45 seconds.

I wound up installing the system myself -- not really a big deal if you like working on household projects.
