Intense workouts?
We are considering a move to TV, and are generally unconcerned that we will be well below the median age, except when it comes to workout classes. My wife currently attends pretty intensive kickboxing and "muscle" classes where she is about the oldest participant and she's worried that at TV she may not be able to find sufficiently challenging classes. What do you think? Would she need to go off-site to get an intense workout? TIA

Ah...this always peaks my interest, the question of age in The Villages. I went to search and found this;

Join MVP Athletic Club at Brownwood and Spanish Springs. Excellent facilities at a great price with hundreds of classes:

There are younger residents in every village but especially in the newer villages. Newbees buy the new homes----we we amazed to find so many younger residents in the Village of Sanibel when we built two years ago.
That said, we don't do "intense" workout----just regular workouts. I am sure they are available at the new fitness center in Brownwood. |

Another vote for MVP. It's not a free part of TV, but it's well worth the cost of membership, and it will be as intense as you want it to be. And they have 2 locations in TV.

The MVP club has a class called "Group Kick". I love this class and it is very cardio intense. It is a solid hour of mixed martial arts/kick boxing set to music. It is their toughest class. They also have a class called "Group Power" which is as tough as you want it to be, you determine how much weight to lift. It is set to music also. Every three months, routines are changed to challenge muscles and to alleviate boredom. I am in my early 60's and some in my class are in their late 70's....it's all up to you. In my humble opinion, the free classes offered at the recreation center are not intense and for people who haven't exercised most of their life, so joining a private club is a must. Also there are a few 24/7 exercise places with equipment only just outside The Villages. MVP has all the machines as well as group classes....now if they only had an indoor pool!

Great info! Thanks so much!
