Have you checked out "Ask the Experts?"

The new forum "ask the experts" is located above the "Villages discussion" forum. Our first expert is "Ty" from Dean's Termite and Pest Control. If you have any questions at all about bugs or pests, please post them in the forum. Most of us have moved from other states, many up north and don't understand the pest problems here.

Re: Have you checked out "Ask the Experts?"

Talk Host, Do we have a construction expert for TOTV, maybe S&S? For example, in colder climes you would never think of building without a vapor barrier on the heated side of the insulation. Yet, I don't recall seeing a vapor barrier in the ceiling of my CYV. Underneath the insulation is sheetrock. Is that standard practice in Florida and sub-tropical areas where maybe a vapor barrier might trap moisture? I can't think of any other reason why a vapor barrier would not be called for. George

Our "ask the expert" forum is fee based. That is that our sponsors pay for the privilege of being on call as an expert. We would love to have a construction expert on TOTV. We hope to have all kinds of experts including doctors.

Vapor barriers are supposed to be installed on the heated side of the insulation - except in the State of Alabama (or maybe Mississippi) where is is opposite due to the high humidity.

Maybe in Florida they eliminate the vapor barrier completely? If you have blown in insulation installed in a older house that wasn't insulated, I don't think they can install a vapor barrier.
