Phoney Phone Call From the "IRS"
We received two calls from the "IRS" stating we owed them $2,000.00 plus and I, or my attorney, was to call a certain number by a certain time to arrange payment. A friend received the same call so I assume our area may be targeted. Other than the heavy accent this call may sound convincing.
Do not fall for it. It is a scam. The real IRS does not operate in this manner. |
Along those same lines "Rachel from card services" is spoofing phone numbers from Villagers. Dad has gotten 3 phone calls and they are all from her but caller ID comes up with local name and numbers. Also one of the calls came from my cell while sitting with my Dad...making it difficult to block the numbers as they keep changing them.

These pond scum cast a broad net. I was just looking at my old hometown newspaper on LI and some poor elderly soul actually fell for the IRS scam. Paper said he paid one thousand in 'pre-paid cards.'

Voicemail is a wonderful tool, to screen these calls. they hang-up when nio one answers!!!

The IRS never contacts you by phone. They always send letters and another letter if no response.

I have a very simple rule...I NEVER give ANY information over the phone.....NONE.
Even when they state all they want is to confirm my address....the answer is no. I do not do business of any sort over the phone unless I know you. General advice: never talk sensitive or private issues on a cell or any wireless device....land line only! Lastly.....hang up!😎 |
