Walgreens discount for veterans

Never realized that walgreens gives you a 15% discount off anything including wine if you have anything that shows you are a veteran. This was at the new one on 466a.:BigApplause:

I don't think it applies to sale items, I may be wrong.

Where can you get the "official" veterans ID card? My husband went up to the VA in TV to fill out the paperwork, and they said their machine that prints the cards is broken, and they don't know if and when they'll get another one.

There must be another place to go apply?

You can have it put on your drivers license.

Yes, but Lowes, for one, won't accept that. Or Home Depot. Or one of them. My friend's got rejected.

What are the discounts at Lowes & Home Depot?

10%, but you must have a DOD ID card. In other words, Active Duty or Retired.

In my case i use the va for medical so i have that card. Not active duty or retired, just a 4 year person. I don't know if the cashier made a mistake but she gave me the discount on everything because sale item are all that i bought. I shop at lowes and get 10% but not on sale items.

I believe the policy for Home Depot and Lowes is they give a military discount all year round and a veterans discount a few weekends a year. Some stores, (including those in the Philly suburbs) will generously give all veterans a 10% discount anytime if they ask. If my husband should go into either store wearing his Viet Nam Veterans hat, he will be stopped at least once by an employee thanking him for his service. A little different than when he returned home in 1971.

Try below link for other veterans discounts:

I just got the "V" put on my driver's license yesterday. Had to take in 5 different forms of ID plus my DD 214. They scan them all into their computer. Cost $32. Everyone in the U.S. will need to do this by 2017.

I have yet to find anyplace that will accept the 'V' for a discount, except I think Lowes and Home Depot on 3 days of the year. Anyone found any places that will ALWAYS accept the 'V' for a discount?

So what is the definition of a "Veteran"?

My husband served 4 yrs in the AF during Viet Nam. He was honorably discharged and has his DD214.

In Utah, his drivers license is stamped "VETERAN" and we always receive a Military discount at Lowe's as well as other retailers and cruise lines etc.

After closing on our home in TV we bought some things at Lowe's, he presented his Ut license and was denied his discount.

Is a DD214 sufficient to get the documentation required to be considered a Veteran at Lowe's there?

Is the "Veteran" discount there at Lowe's considered only for career and active duty military?

I understand that Florida is starting to put a "V" on the drivers license to denote the veteran's status. Is that available to all honorably discharged vets or only to active duty and retired vets?

Who accepts the drivers license as a qualifier for a Veteran discount?

If that is not sufficient, does the vet need to carry a copy of his DD214?

It's all very confusing. Can anyone please clarify?? Thanks!
