Mezza Luna Disappointment
My friend and I went there last night. It was my first time. I had looked at the menu online and had my mouth all set for veal marsala. This is one of my favorite dishes to order in a restaurant and it has always been served as thin medallions of veal. Last night what I got instead were veal cutlets. I have nothing against veal cutlets, but NOT served as veal marsala or veal piccata. I sent the dish back and ordered a pasta dish, which was very good. The manager came out and told me that they'd stopped serving the medallions of veal because they were getting complaints that the medallions were tough! Well, I'm thinking "huh?" and I told him to "buy better quality veal". This doesn't seem like an unsolvable problem, but simple common sense. I hope he listened!

I must have been one of those people who was served those tough medallions. It was like shoe leather. My hubby's dinner wasn't very good either, but I forgot what it was he ordered. Anyway we wouldn't go back there.

The lunch menu you'll find there is a little hard to read because of a small rendering of the text, but if you use <ctrl>+ you can increase the size of it, making it easier to read. Now I'm not contending that you didn't see what you saw online, nor that you didn't experience the veal as you describe, but I'd appreciate it if you would please indicate the website address of where you did see the menu you refer to! Thanks! Anyway, we've had food from Mezza Luna a number of times and although we can't speak about the veal you've had, we have had no complaints so far. Just this Saturday morning we stopped there and we both had the Eggs Florentine and loved it. Matter of fact, we loved it so much that my wife is out as I write and plans on getting the VF again and bringing it back home for us. |
Did you also enjoy the $8.00 fee to split a meal?????

First they are really good, then really so bad not going there again. These are the typical reports I see on just about every new restaurant in TV.
I only know this much (and I am not one to complain much about food) you can get a poor meal at any restaurant anywhere (even so called 5 star) on any given night. I say let's give these hard working people a break. Sounds like they tried to make "things" right so I would give them another chance. |
ate there many times. never a bad meal. one of my favorites.

Transforming veal medallions into leather is a easy thing to do if you don't know how to cook. My mother served us veal three times a week in our early childhood include scaloppine leg of veal and veal chops and all were master pieces. Then the rest of the country discovered veal and the price went out of sight.
A restaurant claiming to be an Italian Restaurant that can't deliver acceptable fare well.................................. I find it puzzling that with over 108,000 people from all over the world The Villages can't get it together to produce some worthwhile restaurants. I believed Lopez was at least consistent until I ate their last and the chicken was well tough as leather and my wife who loves fish was thoroughly disgusted. I am one who won't complain, i just won't return. The reason is beause the first to know that they are not a good restaurant are those working in the restaurant |
Just had breakfast there this morning, everything was excellent, the food, the service and the price was reasonable. We both had the eggs benedict with a side of fruit and a side of home fried potatoes. Will definitely go back.

I ordered scrambled eggs well done. They come out runny and greasy. The home fries tasted good but were also very greasy. Seems they cook with a lot of butter. During breakfast they offered Mimosos on the house which showed they're trying. With a few more weeks experience I'm sure the service will get better but I can't eat greasy food. |
It's much easier to serve a good breakfast...IMHO, than a well prepared dinner.

My group of 8 dined at the restaurant last night. 3 of the meals were not as the menu described and the waitress "Alice" was very defensive instead of apologetic. As she returned to the kitchen under her breath, but loud enough for us to hear she said "What ever". The soup was OK but the eggplant flat was very dry. We will never go back
We complained to management and felt it fell on deaf ears. |
We received the WORST service at Mezza.una last night. The waitress brought the soda and 10 minutes later the rest of the party got their drinks. The food took forever and when it finally came out, the orders were wrong. One friend didn't even get her dinner. The waitress's reply was "Whatever". My friend chose not to tip the waitress because she had no dinner, so the waitress came outside and thanked her for stiffing her. It was the absolute worst experience I had ever witnesses. Eating out is supposed to be a fun time, not at Mezza Luna.

We have eaten here a dozen times and had good service and good food. Only once ( a burned calzone ) did we get a bad meal. They made us another one.

That was rather harsh, she has just as much right to express her opinion as you do. And so do I. I happen to agree with most of the posters. We have eaten there for breakfast and dinner, and would not recommend it to anyone. The taste and quality of the food leaves much to be desired. At breakfast with a group of 7, everyone who had toast thought the bread tasted bad. There was a 3.00 split charge for a 6.99 omelet. Service very slow. Not for us again, and we eat out constantly, so I really want new restaurants to succeed. |
