A Land Remembered by Patrick Smith

Wonderful historical fiction about the settling of central Florida.

I really liked this book. It was an introduction for me to the beginnings of modern Florida, and changed my view of this fine state in so many ways. It is one of those books that still haunts my memory. The characters are all unforgettable. Thanks for posting your comments. Highly recommended.

It's an all-time favorite book of everyone to whom I've suggested it. Reads like a Michener novel, can't put it down, and when finished we felt like our best friend had left forever.

A Land Remembered was winner of the Florida Historical Society's Tebeau Prize as the Most Outstanding Florida Historical Novel. Now in its 14th hardcover printing, it has been in print since 1984 and is also available in trade paperback.

I agree that this book is a great story. I am a Floridian and enjoyed so much reading about early Florida. I read it several years ago and still talk about it.
