Cattle Baron reservation charge

Following a golf game today, we had dinner with some good friends. One of the friends related a story that needs repeating here on TV. The friend recently wanted to make reservations for a group of eight at the Cattle Baron's Club. After making the reservation, she was informed there would be a upfront charge of $12.00, when asked why, she was told that CBC now charges $1.50 per seat for reservations. Has any of you experienced this nonsence ?? I do recall that a year or so ago something nearly as outragous, , my two daughters were visiting me here in the Villages. I took them to the CBC for dinner. We were seated two tables from the railing. I asked if we could be moved to the table adjacent to the railing and was told yes, but there would be a $7.00 charge per person for a total of $28.00. The railing table really wasn't that much of an improvement so I declined.

We experienced some of the same and do not care for the CBC much now. For one thing, the salad bar leaves much much to be desired...

I did not know there was a Cattle Baron's Club here.

Had a reservation for 8 in April without a surcharge. Maybe it is a new thing. Guess the only way you will know for sure is to call them and ask.

That surcharge may be only for when there is a special show downstairs in Katie Belle's.

I think they only charge your CC if you don't show up for your reservation.

The last time we ate at Cattle Baron in a large group, there was no reservation charge.
Perhaps things have changed since April.
Warren, perhaps you could call the Cattle Baron and let us know for sure.

Mudder 06-09-2014 09:45 AM

We ate there last week, had reservation, no extra charge.

a simple phone call to the CBC would yield accurate input VS TOTV guessing/opinion game!

Makes for interesting reading....sometimes!

We all have a choice to eat there or not. If the owners want to charge a reservation fee that's their business. They have to decide whether what they make on the fee will offset the business they may lose because of it. If you don't like it, don't eat there.

WOW what a response. I don't thing you will find a single complaint in my posting about the reservation fee. I was simply asking for verification of what my friend told of her experience.:p

I was only passing along what a friend told a group of us having dinner.

She did not mention a special show or that the fee might only be applied if persons did not show up. I can say that there are several up charges when a special performer might be appearing. I cannot understand a surcharge upstairs at the Cattle Barons Club because for the most part, one must leave their seat and stand at the railing to see the stage. To get the facts, I will call the CBC and ask about any reservation charges. Stay Tuned ........

We were charged extra because Katie Belles had a special show. Definitely worth the extra $7.00!!!

Sounds like a complaint to me. "outrageous nonsense"

I decided at a very young age that there was never going to be a person place or thing that I needed that badly to have to compromise myself. Never would I pay to have a restaurant hold a reservation for me, especially this restaurant.
I ate there once, once
