Pools

Now that it stays lighter longer do the pools have longer summer hours or do they still close at 7:30 PM?

No longer hours!

They close at 8pm except for Southside, on the historic side, which I think is open until 11pm.

In the Sumter County side, the posted rules/hours state pools are open from 7:30am to dusk. Dusk is technically defined as 30 minutes after sunset, so, the "closing time" is a moving target all year long. Theoretically, they should be open til almost 9pm these days. Practically speaking, I don't know what time rec/watch staff comes along to lock the gates.

All pools in the historic neighborhoods [Southside, Hilltop and Chula Vista] USED to stay open late BUT someone from the county dept of health doing a daytime inspection determined there was insufficient lighting for late night use and made district gov impose the same hours for use as all other villages pools.

I think it was the on-line newspaper that recently indicated the amenities authority is prepared to 'give in' on the issue of the grandfathered operating hours for the 3 pool areas and arrange for the lighting that will permit same.

From the weekly Recreation News: "Pools and outdoor facilities close at dusk (30 minutes after sunset)". We have guests this weekend and I happened to be reading it just a few minutes ago.
