Favorite Radio Stations
What were the favorite radio stations and personalities you remember listening to? Having grown up in the Detroit area from the mid 60's to the late 70's, my vote goes to:
CKLW (the Big 8) with Gary Burbank, Johnny Williams, Pat Holiday, Teddy "the Bear" Richards and Super Max Kinkle. WKNR Keener 13, with Scotty Reagon, Dick Purtain, Bob Greene and J. Michael Wilson and Rodney the Rodent. WJR (the Great Voice of the Great Lakes) of course, J.P. McCarthy and Tiger Baseball with Ernie Harwell. |
WPDQ and WAPE in Jacksonville , Florida.

WQAM 560 AM The Rick Shaw Show in Miami
WFUN 790 AM The Jim Howell Show and The Mike Harvey Show in Miami |
WOWO in Ft Wayne, Indiana. I can remember being in Spain, playing with the 2 way radio in the cockpit if a B-47 bomber, and tuning in that station.

Of course early 70's switched over that FM stuff on WABX and WRIF - BABY! |
CKLW Robin Seymour which helped him promote his popular television show Swingin Time.
WJR Frank Beckmann and I listen to his show daily on my way to work. WRIF Drew & Mike. Remember Wolfman Jack? I can't recall what station he was on. |
77 WABC - COUSIN BRUCIE
1010 WINS -MURRAY "THE K" KAUFMAN New York City |
Didn't and still do not care much for radio. Getting that way about TV safe some good old western movies

If I could hijack the thread just a little bit, what about stations that come in clear in TV? It's pretty easy to find music stations, but are there any good talk stations that come in clear here?

Back as an early teen in Minneapolis, it was WDGY.
Driving to work in Washington DC, it was Johnny Holiday or Harden and Weaver all depending who was driving the car pool. |
