What happened ???
 

Today, my neighborhood of two streets, Gerardo and Zaragoza has on display over 500 American curb flags. As I rode my bike on a 10 mile route this morning I counted only 14 homes that had a special display of American flags. Could it be that many are not aware today is Flag Day ???

What were you expecting and why?

Warren - we didn't put the flags out cause we were sure it was going to storm. We did proudly display the flag that came in the paper this morning. God Bless America.

Is your question a serious inquiry ??? Let's assume it is. Today is National Flag Day, designated so by Woodrow Wilson as a way of celebrating by displaying the American flag. It is always on June 14. That answers the why part so now I will address the what was I expecting. On major patriotic designated days, the Villages are usually awash with the Red, White and Blue American flags. That is why I expected today to be no different that those other flag display days. OK ??????

Yes, I was serious!! I learned a long time ago to forget about having any expectations about much of anything...it avoids a great deal of disappointment...something you frequently seem to express on the board. Being happy about the good that I find is much better for my health than is being upset about something I expected but did not find.

Would have been nice to read that you were pleased to see that those who remembered displayed their flags proudly today. A silver lining rather than another black cloud.

We are Jacaranda Islanders in the Village of Pennecamp. Not only did our neighborhood have 90% of the homes with flags out but about 50 people gathered under one neighbor's flagpole to sing the National Anthem at 4pm. Very moving experience.
Just one example of a silver lining in the villages.

I live in a neighborhood with 108 houses and all 108 have flags out.

10 mile bike ride and only 14 houses with flags ..... sorry Warren.... but you were not riding in The Villages or you are wrong one more time. :loco:

I will probably stop using this forum to express any thoughts, ideas, concerns, or opinions. One responder seems to never have been disappointed and calls expressing ones feelings a black cloud. Another accused me of being wrong (one more time) in my home count of those who displayed more than just their everyday flag. . I am sure I can certainly count to 14. I was up to 27 in the seventh grade. I am also certain I know when I am within the limits of the Villages. All that being said, so long folks, all attacks about this posting :BigApplause:will now have to be directed elsewhere.

Let's see. The next flag count day is in about three weeks. Can't wait.

As I recall the 4th brings out flags, flags, and more flags. Woo-hoo!!!!
