Windows 7 Will Not Start - Help

My Windows 7 will not start. Everything was fine until I wanted to use my scanner. But I noticed that since I upgraded operating systems the software for my scanner was no longer on my computer. So I got the disc and started installing it. It said that I did not have the correct operating system, but I figured once it installed I could go get the correct drivers. I have an all-in-one (scanner, printer, fax) and the printer has been working with the computer before this. Well, after I used the disc to install the software my computer will not boot up normally. I have to go to safe mode. It ran a problem numerous times to try to fix the problem, but was not successful. I removed the All-in-One from my computer. But that did not change anything. I went to the Control Panel and looked for all the HP software. It only showed one to uninstall....even though when I go to My Computer and look under Program Files, it lists the other HP programs it installed. I do not know how to install those programs since they do not show up in the Control Panel list.

I do not want to have to re-install my Windows 7 software. Are there some things I can try? Cannot do a restore to an earlier date because it says there are no restore points. Is there a way to use the Windows 7 disc to fix things without doing a whole re-install?

Do a restore.
Use help and search for restore point. This will let you back the computer up to a date it was working.
Your search may find create a restore point. Go there and look for a restore option.
This does not require you to have made backup files.

Cannot do a restore because there are no restore points.

Have uninstalled the software that originally started this problem. And now can start Windows normally, but only if the display adapter is disabled. Everything worked fine prior to my attempting to install that software for my printer/scanner/fax. So the display adapter worked before. Any suggestions what I might try?

boot into safe mode. then run msconfig. check the startup items and unselect any HP type programs

I think everyone should check their windows computer and turn on restore points and make a backup ASAP. It has helped me a lot.

In this instance, you may want to check to see if the printer is compatible with your current operating system. If you are unable to solve this problem on your own, we the technicians of CFLGeek would be more than happy to take a look at your computer for you.
