The Truth About Glenview CC

I've got the scoop on Glenview CC. My friend is a server there.
Melissa, Amanda, Penny are still there . Brett made a great career move.
When 110th Street Grill closed - Randy brought it up for discussion and everyone agreed that it was the right thing to do by moving the 110 servers over to GV. They're all friends and it made it possible for others to take vacations. Randy & Karen are great people to work for and they have a
staff of longtime employees...some 5-10/yrs.
I eat there all the time and I like that they change the menu and provide healthy food that is inexpensive. For value and cost it is by far one of the
best places to eat in town.
For sure they have the best Sunday brunch

We have been to GV twice since the take over, and both were less than good experiences. Last week, I ordered a med rare ribeye that came out more than well done. My wife had the fish on the daily specials menu and complained that it was chewy. We asked for a manager and when he arrived, I swear he was barely out of high school. He came back and instead of fixing the situation, he proceeded to inform us that the chef said it was just fine. REALLY! We did not pay for the dish and will not be back for a while until they come to understand the term....Customer Service.

We were regulars and have been since we moved here a few years ago. We knew Melissa and Amanda and Brett and Penny, and I absolutely hate what the owner did. The place was always packed before the changes, now you can get in anytime. Don't mess with success!

I really, really, like the people who serve there. They are amazing people, very tuned in to making your time there enjoyable..., but I was witness to a very poor judgment call on the part of the management recently.

You can't bite the hand that feeds you. I hope that things level out and someone learns something because I really like to go there. I like the food and the prices are more than fair and it "feels" and looks like the Country Club restaurants in Ohio. Traditional and charming.

Well put Gracie .............. much nicer than my post, but I am still smarting from the changes. It was very much like a social club, we had been going so long that we knew (by sight) so many people who would acknowledge us and it felt like home. Melissa knew what wine we liked, she would bring it to the table without us having to ask, she knew what foods we liked and would let us know if there was something really good on the menu that night. She was an institution at Glenview, she knew her clientele and she treated them all as though they were special to her - someone told me recently that she is at Havana now - don't know if this is true or not.

Like you, we love the decor - very much like private clubs in Boston, up market and elegant, and we also very much enjoyed having lunch on the Porch watching the golfers.

Hey Madeline

If you read my post you would see that Melissa is still working there. The reason it is slow is because it is June, which is off season and one of the slowest months of the year everywhere in Florida. If you love Melissa so much maybe you should stop chasing customers away by bad mouthing her job.

redwitch 07-04-2014 01:12 AM

Um, who said it was slow? Sounds like the complaints were about the quality of food and poor management decisions. (I don't have a bone in this fight -- have never eaten there, just had drinks in the bar.)

Biker Dog 07-04-2014 05:25 AM

Ate there last evening...Service was fine... The prime rib was tasteless...The place was packed, people standing outside waiting to get seated.

You might want to go back and read my original post - I certainly did not "bad mouth" (as you so elegantly put it) Melissa, she is the best waitress they ever had!

I have been associated with the hotel/restaurant world for many years and one thing I do know, you don't mess with success!

OP joined TOTV just to tout this restaurant? Seems like an attempt at covert marketing by management to me.

:agree:

steamdogman 07-04-2014 01:59 PM

well put! Why is it people need to say something even though they have no idea what they are talking about. I go to Glenview a lot and I think the wait staff and bartenders are GREAT

kaydee 07-04-2014 10:16 PM

Love Glenview and all the staff. Melissa in particular is an amazing person. She is a fav of ours.

RErmer 07-05-2014 07:26 AM

Ate there again yesterday; it's close to home for us so we are there often. We continue to appreciate the staff, however, the food is going downhill. There were visible pieces of unchewable gristle in my husband's burger. Have to agree with an earlier poster - when you politely point out the deficiencies in the food (again, not the service), management does nothing to explain/fix/say they will improve. Husband says from now on he will go there only to drink, not to eat, and I am inclined to agree.

zcaveman 07-05-2014 11:57 AM

We haven't been to Glenview is a while but I think I will put it on my list for one of the next few weeks so I can see how it really is.
