Has anyone tried house swapping/ I'm thinking of trading homes for a month or so. Anyone tried?

I'm looking at Costa Rica to swap homes with. But has anyone done this sort of thing ? and had any luck?

I did it a couple of times in California. I did have a friend drop by to make sure folks were taking good care of my place. Went to Israel once. Folks left house in better shape than when I left. Hawaiian people left it middle of the road. The French convinced me to never do it again -- cost me $3,000 in repairs.

I did it one time. I owned a great condo at St. Augustine and was contacted by a previous renter of mine that they would like the condo for two weeks and instead of paying rent, they would exchange their house in the San Francisco area with us and even include a car.

It worked out very well. We took another family with us since it was a 4 bedroom house and all had a good vacation.
