Code Question

If my neighbor has her lanai enclosed with glass doors and then removes the sliding glass doors going out to her lanai from the house, is she breaking any codes. Her husband can do the work. I would wonder if he needs a permit to do that?

Don't know for sure about TV. Here in Ohio no permits are required if you don't change/add plumbing, electric, hvac or structure(foot print). You can replace doors, windows , sinks, toilets etc w/o permits. Not sure about enclosing the lanai.

Check with the Sumter County Building Services Dept.

But it's your neighbor's house - and you are wondering?

A "recent widow" - but - "Her husband can do the work. I would wonder if he needs a permit to do that?" Did I miss something along the way?

We changed our lanai from screens to acrylic windows and left our sliders in place - did not need permits for any work - bit that was Lake County.

I meant her son - sorry. Why is this such an issue with you. All I did was post a question and you're dissecting it! I don't feel I have to explain every word I type; I meant son so shoot me!

Village Community Development Districts

Have her check the deed restrictions for the Village of Hemingway.

Deed restrictions have nothing to do with the interior of your house.

Now, now, now, calm yourself! I simply found the post confusing. Thank you for clarifying!

This is Lake County, but we needed a permit to replace the sliding glass door that goes out to the lanai because it's considered to be an exterior door, even though you're not really outside once you exit through it.

If her son does the work himself, who would know? Unless the couple from Olive Garden are her neighbors.
