Water Hose Disconnected

My outside hose has become disconnected from the faucet/sillcock/spigot a couple of times lately. I can't imagine it working its way loose on its own. I'm not assuming anything yet, but I just can't see how it could happen. Has anybody had this happen? Could it possibly be happening on its own somehow? Or could it possibly be neighborhood contractors, lawnworkers, etc.? I can't really imagine that either, so I'm stumped right now.

It's never happened to me here, so already my post is worthless (I know this :))....BUT, in my old home this happened for years until I caught a city worker filling up vials from one of my outside faucets. He told me my home was a test home for the city water in my area. Since I had built that house, I knew the city never notified me, so I called them and gave them an earful. It wasn't so much the water...that was negligible, it was that they never informed me. I can't imagine TV doing this, tho. Also, contractors when working on the rental home next door would use my water, often assuming (usually correctly) that I was at work. When that house was ever empty and being worked on, I resorted to a little sign on the faucet reminding them that water was for MY home and if they had an emergency to knock and see me, if not, please don't use it.
Do you have your lawn serviced? They were required where I was to wash off the mower between lawns. Maybe that's it?

Not at all...heheh. I'm suspecting something along those lines. But I mow my own lawn, so that's not it. I do have my lawn treated though. Wonder if that could be it. Hmm.

In any case, whoever it is should not be using your water and shouldn't be leaving the hose disconnected.

Don't you have an inside shutoff. Maybe the person unhooking your hose will get tired of trying to get water from your line.

well... I guess I just didn't want you to feel crazy. At first, I kept thinking I was just not realizing what I was doing  , but I had no reason to undo my hose, so it was making me a little crazy!!

Hose Bib lock

Someone is stealing (or borrowing) your water.

If you can't find the inside shutoff valve, go to Lowes and buy a "hose bib lock".

Is there an inside shutoff valve just for the outside faucet in TV homes?

It happens to me too. Mostly it's the lawn maintenance guys.

Not in the two that I have owned.

I caught the house washing service for the next door neighbor using my spigot one day and turned it off and told him to use the neighbor's spigot.

I also saw my house washing service using the spigot and told him to please put the hose back on when he was done. He has done that ever since.

The only way to shut your hose water off, is if you shut your main water supply valve off in the garage. There is no off valve for just your outside spicket.
